What the transcription produces
Each handwritten row becomes a raw record bound to its depth interval, with the transcribed value, a confidence score, and the source image attached. Nothing is computed here — N-values, classifications, and derived properties are the standards engine's job, downstream.

02 / OCR under the same discipline as typed entry
Digitised is not the same as verified. A transcribed row earns its place the same way a typed one does.
Enters through Door 1 only
OCR output is a raw measurement, never a derived or certified value. The standards engine still computes; a signing engineer still approves.
Confidence is data, not decoration
Every transcribed value carries a confidence score. Anything below threshold is flagged for engineer review before the record is accepted.
The sheet stays attached
The original photograph is retained against the record, so any value can be traced back to the handwriting it came from — years later, in a tender.
Transcription follows the conventions of the governing standards — depths in metres below ground level, SPT increments to ASTM D1586, core recovery as TCR / SCR / RQD percentages, and descriptions to BS 5930 — mapped to AGS 4.1 groups on import.
